Ofwat sticks by draft numbers for Anglian interim determination

by Karma Loveday

Ofwat has locked in a final determination for Anglian Water in relation to its Elsham Direct Procurement for Customers project with no material changes from the draft determination published at the end of June.

The table summarises the final determination. The additional funding will allow Anglian to deliver the pipeline and conditioning plant elements of its Elsham transfer and treatment scheme in-house, rather than through direct procurement as specified in the company’s PR19 final determination.

Ofwat also confirmed a consequential change to one of the company’s performance commitments.

• Last week, Anglian Water submitted a planning application to West Suffolk, East Cambridgeshire and King’s Lynn and West Norfolk councils as the first step in the process to install a new strategic water pipeline to join up water supplies from Bexwell to Bury. The scheme will be part of Anglian’s 500km strategic pipeline project - the largest drinking water infrastructure project the UK has seen for a generation. The section of pipeline involved in the planning application will run for 70km between the two locations to join up existing infrastructure and will include five new pumping stations and three drinking water storage tanks. Subject to planning consent, work will commence on site in 2022.
