Northumbrian Water takes the catchment approach to regional scale

Northumbrian Water and the Rivers Trust have formed a strategic partnership to bring the Catchment Based Approach for water management to a regional level in the North East, through the formation of an industry first Catchment Hub for the North East.

Local, regional and national experts will work through the hub to develop improvements for water quality and the wider environment in the region; support existing catchment partnerships; and unlock additional funding. Three new full time roles will be created within the Tyne, Wear and Tees Trusts, plus a part time managerial role.

Northumbrian said the hub will form a focal point for its PR24 planning, as well as its partnership working to improve the environment through catchment and nature-based solutions.

The partnership is initially for one year, but its remit includes developing a platform for growth in future years.
