MOSL is expected this week to publish a Request for Information (RFI) to anyone interested in developing a data sharing mechanism for smart meter data in the non-household market.
With around 10m smart water meters due to be rolled out by 2030, some of which will be for business customers, the non-household market urgently needs an efficient means of wholesalers sharing data with retailers, and of managing data submission into the central market operating system. The preferred option is for the creation of a central data hub.
MOSL said the RFI will be the first step in engaging with potential delivery partners and exploring delivery options. A Request for Proposal is due in March, and a consultation will follow in April, before approval is sought from the Strategic Panel for a full business case in May.
