Glas Cymru appoints new safety chair

Welsh Water owner, Glas Cymru, has appointed Barbara Moorhouse as a non-executive director and chair-designate of the Quality and Safety Committee.

Moorhouse (pictured) has extensive leadership experience in the private, public and regulated sectors. She is chair of privately owned train services company Agility Trains Group and senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee at Aptitude Software Group, a non-executive director at Balfour Beatty and non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Medica Group.

She will succeed Graham Edwards, who is set to retire from both positions.

Moorhouse is a former chair of the Rail Safety and Standards Board, director general at the Ministry of Justice and the Department for Transport and group finance director at Kewill Systems and Morgan Sindall. She was Regulatory Director at South West Water directly following privatisation.

Moorhouse said: “I look forward to re-joining the water industry at this important time in the debate as to the water quality and environmental standards for the future.”
