Five secure Southern Water grants to save water

Southern Water’s Business Partnership Fund has awarded grants to five organisations in its area to support their water efficiency efforts.

The £90,000 funding could potentially save more than 7.3 million litres of water per year.

The recipients were a leisure centre in Worthing which will use the grant to buy an industrial filter so swimming pool water can be reused; a Horsham garden centre which plans to install ground water harvesting tanks; Lancing Parish Council which will improve the water efficiency of its toilets; and a Brighton primary school which will invest in rainwater storage.

The fifth grant went to retailer Wave, which will run a survey at Stanford Hill prison to assess the potential for shower flow restrictors, with a potential saving of 7,600 litres of water per day.

The next Business Partnership Fund will be open from October to December 2024, with successful projects being awarded in January 2025.
