Environment Agency publishes guidance on using reservoirs to manage flood risk
The Environment Agency has published guidance on the role reservoirs can play in flood risk management.
The agency has developed an operating framework to help decide which water supply reservoirs can provide flood risk management benefits, to enable consistent local decision making and support engagement between its own teams, water companies, local communities and others.
This framework can be applied to existing operational assets, assets identified for decommissioning, new assets and associated infrastructure, and impounding and pumped storage assets.
