COP27 turns its attention to water
Today is Water Day at COP27. Collective water action is critical to achieving climate targets, delivering a nature positive world and embedding resilience globally.
Discussions will cover all issues related to sustainable water resource management, including water scarcity, drought, cross boundary cooperation and improvement of early warning systems.
Among other issues on the agenda are:
a briefing from the newly formed Global Commission on the Economics of Water, which is expected to argue that a new economics of water is needed to allow us to respond to climate change impacts and build a resilient water future;
a report from WaterAid on the health effects for women and girls living in Pakistan’s flood zone; and
the launch of the African Cities Water Adaptation Fund.
