Cheddar 2 Reservoir approved to continue development

The Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) has cleared the Cheddar 2 Reservoir project to continue to Gate Three of its staged approval process.

RAPID said the scheme, being developed by Wessex Water, Bristol Water and South West Water, will provide regional water resource resilience, and that funding to progress it had been approved.

The regulators asked the developers to consider the potential of the reservoir to restore wetland habitats during periods of summer low flow, and to demonstrate that the Habitats Regulations Assessment will meet requirements.
