Anglian finishes AMP7 smart rollout programme

Anglian Water has completed its AMP7 smart meter rollout programme.

The company has installed 1.1m smart meters at a cost of £153m, meaning nearly half of all its meters are now smart.

The company said it was on track to hit its target of full smart metering by 2030, and would continue the rollout with its partners Arqiva, Kier and Clancy.

Don Maher, director of customer and wholesale services for Anglian Water, said: “Our programme puts people in touch with how much water they’re using down to daily or even hourly level, which helps them take control of their household bills and find leaks that are costing them money. We publish approximately 8.4m of these meter readings in customers' portals every day.”

So far, the increased visibility has helped stop the equivalent of more than 14m of litres of water from going to waste every day, ahead of a target of 9.4m litres a day.
